I recently visited Makkah after the restoration of Umrah & Hajj operation from the Saudi Embassy. Today, I put together my top-6 list of things to do here in the city of Makkah. Makkah is an exciting city carrying many historic, sacred and modern attractions. I’ll definitely recommend everybody to come here.
Makkah can ideally be described as the capital of Islam. It has many beautiful and historic places which everyone regardless of his/her religion would like to visit so let’s explore the places.
Makkah Mosque (Haram)
The Great Mosque of Mecca, commonly known as the Holy Mosque, is the largest mosque in the world, surrounded by the holiest sites in Islam. Muslims from all over the world pray towards the magnificent mosque five times a day. The current structure of the mosque covers an area of 356,000 square meters which includes indoor and outdoor places of worship.
Due to the growing number of pilgrims every year, the capacity of the mosque is increased to 400,000 square meters. The Kaaba is at the center of the mosque and contains the famous Black Stone, Maqam Ibrahim, Al-Safa and Al-Marwah and the Zamzam well.
Millions of pilgrims visit the mosque throughout the year. This site lottrips gives its best during Hajj. Around 2 million people perform the Hajj and pray. The experience gained during a visit to this magnificent and beautiful mosque is unparalleled and an incredible spiritual experience gained by millions of Muslims around the world.
Jabal Al Noor
Jabal al-Noor (Mountain of Light) is located near Mecca and is a tourist attraction. The famous Hira cave is of great importance in Islamic history. Heera’s house is located on this Jabal Noor mountain.
Jabal al-Noor is a rocky mountain and it takes about two hours on foot to reach Ghar Hira. The cave itself is quite small and faces the Kaaba. The building can be seen hundreds of meters below Jabal Al Noor and a few kilometers away. Avail our services of Hajj from all over the world.
Makkah Mall (shopping center)
Makkah Mall has many malls, but if there is one mall you must visit, Makkah Mall is for its location. Due to its proximity to Masjid al-Haram, it is easy for pilgrims to go on small pilgrimages. You can find most famous brand stores in this mall. The good news is that there is something for everyone at the mall, from really expensive brands to cheap supermarkets.
The food court is of a high standard and the shopping center has a good place for prayers and a children’s play area.
Mecca Auction Mall
It is a permanent auction center located in the Hilton Tower, very close to the Grand Mosque. You will find some amazing jewelry, old rings, old banknotes and old Islamic coins from different countries and many other interesting things.
It’s a very different way of shopping. Things are displayed and then people bid on them. Sometimes it feels like a competition for riches, but sometimes you can get a lot.
Hira Cave (Ghar e Hira)
This is the cave where the Holy Prophet (sws) spent a lot of time and you got the first revelation from Allah (swt) inside this cave of Gabriel (sws).
This cave is of great importance in Islamic history. The cave is located on the Jabal al-Noor mountain, three kilometers from Mecca. It takes about six hundred steps to reach the cave. The cave is about twelve feet long and five feet high.
Mount Arafat is a small hill in the Arafat Plain, east of Mecca. The height of the hill is about 230 feet. This hill has historical significance because the Holy Prophet (PBUH) delivered the last Hajj sermon on this hill. Every year, on the occasion of Hajj, millions of pilgrims spend the whole day here asking for prayers and blessings from Allah Almighty.
If you’re planning to visit Makkah it would be a great decision. Here a lot of exciting things to do from shopping to discovering historic and sacred sites of Islam.
